Greetings Public Safety Telecommunications Professionals,
Your State TERT committee has been very busy over the past year. We have completed the TERT standards for the state of Tennessee and are very close to completing the revision of Emergency Support Function 2 – Communications. We will have several things going on at this year’s TENA Conference in Murfreesboro. On Sunday, there is a TERT Leadership course available. This course is required for anyone seeking the TERT Leader classification. It is free if you are already registered as a conference attendee and only $50 if you are not. On Monday, a Basic TERT Awareness course will be given and we will have the TERT booth set up in the Vendor Hall during the entire conference.
Many of you have expressed an interest in participating in the TERT program. We hope you have been working on the requirements and are ready for the next step. We will be credentialing TERT members at the booth this year. This means if you have met all the requirements and your Agency Director has approved your participation in the program, you will be officially registered and an ID badge will be made for you. There are three forms listed below. We will need two of these filled out and brought to the booth along with your current Driver’s license, in order to complete the credentialing process.
Director Membership Letter – this letter needs to be completed and signed by your Director, verifying that each team member has met the requirements for telecommuicator, supervisor or team leader. We only need one letter from the Director listing all members from your agency.
Requirement Checklist – this is a checklist or guide for the Director to ensure all requirements have been met. We do not need this form back, however, we recommend you keep it for your records.
PSAP Survey – this survey should be filled out by the Director. This information will be kept confidential and will be viewed by the State TERT Committee only. It will be kept in a secured database, and used to ensure we send the best qualified TERT members in the event your agency should need help and to track which equipment you as a member are trained to operate. We only need one of these surveys back per agency.
Please feel free to contact any of us if you have questions. We look forward to seeing you at the TENA conference in September!!
